Our new Europa Vineyard in Stanley, Victoria
Introducing our new Europa Vineyard. Europa is located up near Stanley, and has only just been planted. The grape varieties in this vineyard are Petit Arvine, Chardonnay, and Pinot Noir.
Our Europa Vineyard has been planted primarily to chardonnay, on red Dermosol soils, which are free-draining and perfect for white varieties on a south-east facing slope. Europa will be the highest vineyard owned by Fighting Gully Road, with an elevation of between 700-750m above sea level; and is the site for our newly imported variety – Petit Arvine, which is found at home in the Aosta valley in north-west Italy and over the border in Switzerland. Fighting Gully Road in Halliday Top 100 Wineries
In the annual Halliday Wine Companion Top 100 Wineries, we have been lucky enough to be included in this years list!
Fighting Gully Road has been ranked 77th, and are incredibly proud of this achievement. No only have we been able to secure the Top Five-Star winery rating this year (which refers to a winery with a long track record of excellence, having held a five-star rating continuously for at least 10 years…the best of the best in Australia), but we’ve also been included in this years Halliday Top 100 Winery list. We’ve been here since 1997, so its nice to get this recognition from the Halliday tasting team. Our aim is to deliver premium wines, consistently, that speak of terroir, and of the season in which they have come. With some challenging vintages of late, it’s nice to see we’re still being recognised for excellence. Continue reading Fighting Gully Road in Halliday Top 100 Wineries
