I’ve always believed that the best recognition in this game comes quietly — in the vineyard, over time, through the wines themselves. So to see our 2023 Smith Vineyard Chardonnay nominated for White Wine of the Year in The Real Review‘s Top Wineries Awards 2026 is something I’m incredibly proud of.
Up here in Beechworth, we’ve never set out to chase accolades. The focus has always been on the land — farming thoughtfully, working with what each season gives us, and trying to capture something honest in the bottle. That approach doesn’t always shout the loudest, but it’s what I believe in.
This recognition feels like a reflection of that long-term commitment. It speaks not just to a single wine or vintage, but to years of work, and to the people who’ve supported what we do along the way.
TRR’s 2026 Top Winery Award Finalists will begin rolling out from April 20, with the FGR feature being presented on April 22. Like everyone else, I’ll be watching with interest as it all unfolds in the weeks that follow.
Whatever the final result, this is a moment I’m taking the time to appreciate. It means a great deal.
